This passage reminds us that Jesus came to help people who are spiritually sick, not those who believe they are already good. Many people say they are Christians but still live like everyone else, facing sin, sadness, and a lack of spiritual growth. Some of the churches only teach shallow lessons, which can leave believers weak instead of helping them grow in holiness and accountability. When Christians ignore sin, they produce little spiritual fruit and stay spiritually sick.
The challenge asks believers to be honest about their spiritual state. If someone is living a worldly or shallow lifestyle, they might need healing from God. The message is not to give up on God, but to stop resisting Him and allow Jesus, the “Great Physician,” to cleanse, restore, and strengthen them. As followers of Christ, we should examine ourselves and allow God to change us daily.
