Physical computer storage is used to store information and data on a computer either permanently or temporarily. The two different types of disk drives are magnetic and solid-state. The drive can be internal, meaning it is stored inside your computer, or external, which means the drive is connected with a USB cable outside of the computer. Some of the storage methods are hard disk drives (HDD), solid-state drives (SSD), cloud storage, and flash storage. The hard disk drive is a spinning magnetic disk inside the computer that often stores large amounts of data. The solid-state drive is a chip. The SSD can be either internal or external. It’s known for being both fast and durable, and can be helpful when storing data within applications on the computer. Cloud storage is internal. Often, an application and a login process come with cloud storage. Most of us use cloud storage for all of our classes when it comes to storing our assignments in things such as OneDrive. Flash storage, which refers to storing things on a flash drive, is an external process. USB flash drives plug into the computer, which then allows you to store things in a folder.
