I have finally been able to start the CPTE Course. I wanted to again thank you. I have only been through a couple modules and already like what I see. I have taken on-line courses that really disappointed( on A+ and Networking+ that I really didn't learn much from. So far it looks like your program is the best I have seen and wanted to thank you again. Though a lot might be over my head right now as I am still new to the IT subject matter, I am looking forward to the exposer and knowledge I will gain, and hopefully be able to gain a career in this field, as my main plan of LE is no longer attainable due to my disability. So again I wanted to just thank you. I have told many friend about your program and hope they will look into it as I have.

I actually was able to watch a training video from Mile2 and it was impressive. There are a vast number of courses Mile2 has to offer which I am planning on taking. I chose Mile2 as many of my colleagues have strongly suggested this company.

My name is Greg Dreelin, and I am currently working as an Information Security and Risk Management Analyst for the Department of Veterans Affairs. In 2009 I took the Certified Penetration Testing Specialist (CPTS) and the Certified Penetration Testing Engineer / Consultant (CPTE/C) from the Mile2 training academy. Both of these courses help to build on my current understanding of how to perform a specialized penetration assessment of a client’s network infrastructure. In addition, it proved to be an invaluable asset in the design and creation of putting a professional penetration testing team together with all the skillsets required to perform the assessment. Mile2’s courses are first rate in training and professionalism among the many other training companies that are out there with similar certification. Prior to attending the Mile2 courses I had received my Certified Ethical Hacker (CEH) certification, which the CPTS and CPTE/C built on increasing my skills as a security auditor. These courses were an excellent stepping stone to the next levels of security auditing from the basic CEH certification because they are design from the aspect of performing an assessment from end to end, as well as the team requirements for the assessment.

I have been working with Mile2 since my time in the Marine Corps as an Information Security Chief and after as a contractor for the Marine Corps Blue Team Lead. I have had Mile2 come out to perform several CPTS courses at our facilities in Quantico, VA and each time I had received positive feedback from all of our military students. All of their instructors were proficient and extremely knowledgeable in information security auditing and had a firm grasp on the knowledge taught in the courses. I had sat in many of these courses during that time they had provided training in our center and found the information to be top notch in real world examples and learning. The CPTS was fairly an add-on to the CEH with more hands-on and real world scenarios for performing security audits. The CPTE/C was a bit more advanced by designed for mainly the leadership role of a penetration testing team. This course gives the types of roles that are needed during an assessment as well as most on the legal issues required to perform a security audit in professional manor. I highly recommend taking both of these courses to help in the growth of knowledge for a security assessment team.

Certified Penetration Testing Specialist (now CPTEngineer)

I attended the CPTS course at C-TREC in Houston from July 10 to July 14, taught by Michael Gregg.
As a security professional I have several certifications, like MCSE 2003 +security, Security+ and the EC-Council's Certified Ethical Hacker. The reason that I was still looking for a pentest training, was because of the fact that after the CEH training I felt that I wasn't ready to do the actual thing.
Needless to say that I am feeling really happy that I could participate in Mile2's training program. In fact it was by far the best training that I have ever attended. I think that the big difference between the CEH and CPTS certification is that the CEH program provides you with a lot of tools (which you can find yourself on the internet) where the CPTS program teaches you actually how to use them in a structured manner.
They do that by providing you with up-to-date materials (which are put together by security professionals) and real challenging hands-on exercises which make you understand the tools and the methodology of pentesting.
Although the CEH class was taught by a very good teacher who used more of his own materials then the EC's (because the CEH materials were out of date or full of errors) the CPTS training was thoughtfully put together and with the hands-on exercises it was made easy to understand the different parts of doing a pentest.

The instructor did not clock watch and tried to maintain contact with the students.
Instructor was available for students when needed.
Fun class! -- W.H. CPTE/June 2012 Slides were well put together.
Punctuality was good on starting class.
Labs were challenging at times but in a good way encouraged to learn more.

I bought the CPTE courseware kit about 2 months ago to self learn, this was kinda a new topic for me even though i have been doing IT for many years. I have enjoyed the course which came with the 3 manuals and various tools on cds so there was lots of reading and experimenting. i found this to be a interesting topic overall though and have to say i have learned many new things since beginning this course, but i did find the exam harder than i expected i guess it makes it a little more rewarding though when you finally pass it ;) And i just want to say thanks to the staff at mile2® for there help.

The instructor was great! I do part time teaching at a local college and am adapting some of her styles to my presentations. The Forensics training on September 13, 2010 was exceptional. Genevieve Turner was a fantastic instructor and knew the subject matter inside and out. Her relating to real world experience brought the information full circle... I was able to use techniques learned to recover 2449 files for a coworker from a corrupt DVD.
