A SoHo router combines several essential features to provide secure and reliable internet and network access for small scale environments. It includes WAN and LAN ports to connect to the wireless access point in which enables Wi-Fi connectivity. It practically functions as a DHCP server automatically assigning IP addresses to devices and uses NAT to allow multiple devices to share one public IP address. The firewall that’s integrated protects and blocks unauthorized access and additional features like port forwarding. Many of these routers also support VPNs for secure remote access, offer parental control and quality service to manage content and prioritize bandwidth. Of course regular firmware updates ensure improved functionality and enhanced security.
