You make a great point in your post. In order to efficiently troubleshoot, it is important to know the systems you are dealing with, as well as how they interact with each other. I have appreciated employment situations where I have been given the freedom to test and troubleshoot issues. Those are the situations that have allowed me to learn more than I might have otherwise.
