Check for Damage, Inspect the power supply unit (PSU) visually. Look for any signs of physical damage, such as burnt components, bulging capacitors, or loose connections. Pay attention to any unusual smells. A burnt or acid odor could indicate a faulty PSU. Also Familiarize yourself with the ATX (Advanced Technology extended) specification. It defines key aspects of the PSU, including dimensions, connectors, and power output. 24-pin Main Connector supplies electricity to the motherboard. The CPU Power Connector usually 4 or 8 pins, providing power to the CPU. SATA Power Connector powers hard drives, SSDs, and optical drives. Unplug the PSU from the motherboard and other components. Plug in the PSU and switch it on. If the fan spins, the PSU is functional.
