      MATTHEW 11 – GOT REST?

Then Jesus said, “Come to me, all of you who are weary and carry heavy burdens, and I will give you rest. (Matthew 11:28)

Rest is a place of comfort, a place of security. It’s where the weary soul can find deep satisfaction. It’s where the heavy heart can find true peace.

Because there is no resting place in this world for the burdened, Jesus petitions to the masses, “Come to me… all of you who are weary”! The pursuit of happiness isn’t found in this world’s shallow treasures, nor the temporary passions of the flesh. No – it’s found in the heart of God.

And in His heart, there is true rest… Rest from the many expectations of this world. Rest from the demands of beauty and brilliance. Rest from all the garb this world claims you must become.

——This rest is discovered in the person of Christ who declares with absolute certainty, “I WILL GIVE YOU REST!

      CHALLENGE

O weary soul, do you long to find that place where you can lye next to still waters? Where the river flows the stillness of God? My friend, true rest can only be found in the Lord Jesus. Have you found it? If not, Jesus is waiting.

I don’t know if I found true rest yet all I know is that I’m still searching and trying my best to live for God the best of my ability.

Hello Braden, Thats all we can do in life is keep trying to the best of our ability to be who we are and be happy in our life’s, to be able to make the most out of what time we have left on earth and be able to look in the mirror and be proud of what we see.

I haven’t found the final destination as of yet. I do believe that I am on the right path though and I and not in such a dark place I feel. I have grown and learned with this door that Lord has opened for me. I think that I will be coming to the end of the path to find my ultimate peace here soon. Which I am truly thankful for, it has been a long time coming too.

Hello Trae. I know how you feel when you say you was in a dark place and God had opened the door to show you something else is waiting. I have been in that dark place, and I have lost a lot to find my peace with the heartache I had to go through to find God again. I had been down a path that I knew wasn’t for me but still went down it and struggle every day to stay off that path and on the one that is meant for me.

I like this verse because in it we can have comfort in knowing that Jesus will always provide a place to rest when we grow tired. I also have been able to find rest by going to Jesus through His word and praying or meditating over how I can apply what God tells me every day that I spend time with Him. So in conclusion, I have found peace through spending time with Jesus.

I believe that I am on my way to finding peace and true rest with God. I lost my faith and will to find happiness. For over two decades then I found the will to allow God to take control of my life again and let him handle all my struggles. I have found the path he wants me to be on and my purpose he put me here for. So, I believe that I am heading in the right direction in finding my true peace on earth.

God set an example of rest by resting on the seventh day after creating the world, and He encourages us to incorporate rest into our weekly routine. The concept of deliberately dedicating a day to being in the presence of God and enjoying His company is known as a Sabbath. Observing the Sabbath is a way to remind ourselves that God’s love for us is not based on our actions, but on His character and nature. It provides an opportunity to pause, reflect, and reconnect with our spiritual beliefs and values.

I feel the concept of rest in Matthew 11:28 goes beyond physical relaxation. It speaks to a deeper spiritual and emotional rest that many people seek but find elusive in their daily lives. In our fast-paced world, filled with constant demands and pressures, the promise of rest is incredibly appealing. Jesus invites us to lay down our burdens—whether they are worries, fears, or the weight of trying to meet societal expectations—and find peace in Him.

This rest is transformative. It allows us to experience a sense of tranquility and assurance that we are cared for and loved unconditionally. When we accept this invitation, we can let go of the need to control every aspect of our lives and trust in a higher power. This trust brings a profound sense of peace, knowing that we are not alone and that we don’t have to carry our burdens by ourselves.

Moreover, this rest recharges our spirits, giving us the strength and clarity to face life’s challenges with renewed vigor. It’s a reminder that we are more than our struggles and that there is a place of solace where our souls can find true satisfaction and our hearts can be at peace.
