MATTHEW 12 – GOT NEED?
“Have you not read what David did when he was hungry, he and those who were with him: how he entered the house of God and ate the showbread which was not lawful for him to eat, nor for those who were with him, but only for the priests”? (Matthew 12:3-4/1 Samuel 21)
David and his men are running for their lives. In a jealous rage, Saul is in hot pursuit of David, God’s anointed one. David runs where he knows it’s safe, the tabernacle – the house of God. At the doorway, David is met by the high priest with provision – the shewbread and a sword.
The fresh bread renewed David’s strength. The sword that is now in his possession quickens the spirit of the vagabond king! For in his hand is not just any weapon but the sword of Goliath, the giant he sleighed many years ago!
Although David was seeking only a safe haven, God provided so much more than that; physical sustenance and a weapon of warfare.
CHALLENGE
Is satan in hot pursuit of your soul? Do you feel overwhelmed with satan’s blitzkrieg? Or do you feel helpless under his spell?
Then run where it’s safe, under the shadow of the great captain of our salvation, the Lord Jesus Christ! He will sustain you and defend you with the sword of the spirit, which is the word of God! – for He has conquered both death and hell! Run to Him!!!

When I was in my active addiction, I felt like Satan was after my soul he was leading me into a life that was preparing me for what hell awaited me. Since I have found my higher power, I fear nothing and hand it all over to my lord and God. I repented my sins and was forgiven, and I suffered the hell of addiction by following Satan and God come and saved me and I will always follow the lord and run to him when life is too hard for me to accept and lay it out for him to take control over. I was always told it takes losing something to realize what you had and how to raise above and beyond the pain and to allow God to help stand us up right again and that is just what I went throw and suffered and got to where I am now in life.

I truly believe that even if the Devil is chasing you that God would still protect you and be on your side even if you can’t feel it or notice him no matter what he is with you even in suffering.

Hello Braden, I believe that God will protect us all. I have witnessed it when it could have been me being gone and my daughter not having a soul, but God stood with me and helped me. To see the difference in my thoughts and beliefs so. I know God will protect us in all we do and if we don’t follow the path, he sets for us then that is our fight to get back to God.

Yes, satan is always after us all and will always be lurking for the chance to strike. No, I don’t feel afraid as the Lord is always with me. I know that there is nothing to fear, I stand with God. I accept his son Jesus as my savior, I may not be perfect man nor sinless. I know i will not lose to satan or his pitiful minions.

I’ve struggled in battles with satan in addiction to a few things in life but over the past few years, I’ve seen Jesus change my desires and help give me the strength to start to overcome them. One verse that comes to my mind when reading and thinking about this is Hebrews 12:11 which says, “For the moment all discipline seems painful rather than pleasant, but later it yields the peaceful fruit of righteousness to those who have been trained by it.”

When individuals find themselves in a state of vulnerability, such as feeling emotionally fragile or undergoing significant life challenges, they become particularly susceptible to the temptations and negative influences propagated by Satan. During these moments, Satan is adept at exploiting their vulnerabilities to entice them into sin or instill doubt.
To resist temptation, it is crucial to have a strong will and a genuine desire to make the right choices. I find that visualizing potential situations and consciously choosing the correct course of action helps me build resilience against temptation. Additionally, prayer plays a significant role in providing me with strength. By seeking spiritual nourishment and carefully selecting the environments in which we spend our time, we can create opportunities for the Holy Spirit to be a constant presence, guiding and cautioning us as we navigate life’s challenges.

The story of David and the shewbread is a powerful reminder that God provides for His people in their time of need. Even when we are running for our lives, God is with us and will provide for us. We can trust in Him to protect us and to give us what we need.
The shewbread was a sacred offering, but David was in a desperate situation. He was hungry and his life was in danger. God understood his need and provided for him. This story teaches us that God is merciful and compassionate. He cares for His people and will provide for them, even in difficult times.
We can learn from David’s example. When we are facing challenges, we should turn to God for help. He will provide for us and give us the strength we need to overcome our difficulties. We should also remember that God is always with us, even when we feel alone. He is our protector and our provider.
