      There are several diverse types of mobile devices. Each mobile device must rectify any trouble shooting issues differently. Some mobile devices are laptops, cell phones, smart watches and more. When trouble shooting a device like a cell phone it is important to first identify the issue with, the device. If the device is having an issue connecting to a network, to trouble shoot the issue first check the device network setting. Ensure that the device is connecting to a network that is available. You also want to ensure the network credentials are correct when trying to access an internet connection.

      Laptops are a mobile device that can use some of the same techniques for trouble shooting as a PC. Laptops and PC’s have some of the same hardware components such as a motherboard a Ram and other components. Similar to trouble shooting a PC, when trouble shooting a laptop, it is important to first identify the problem. When trouble shooting one of the first steps to take is checking the power source check. You do this by checking all the cables and battery connectivity are established. Another trouble shooting method is to ensure the laptop is running at its most current version. CPU overheating sometimes can be an issue for the laptop. To trouble shoot the CPU you can clean the CPU fan and heatsink with compressed air. (Knotts, 2024) There a numerous ways to trouble shoot a mobile device but each depends on the type of device and its issues

        Hello Latoya,
        After reading your discussion post, I thought you did great explaining how to troubleshoot laptops and their similarities to PCs. I also liked how you walked through the troubleshooting steps for devices that are having trouble connecting to networks because some people misunderstand that they might not have their WiFi turned on or something and blame the computer or internet service provider instead.

      There are many issues to troubleshoot on mobile devices including overheating, slow performance, and short battery life. Overheating can be caused by either too many applications opened or by using an application such as a game for a long time or improper ventilation such as leaving it in the sun during the summer. When a mobile device overheats it can shut down until cooled off because the system could be damaged further if you continue to use it. Slow performance can result from too many apps opening or running simultaneously, which can be solved by closing some of them or overheating can cause the device to slow. Short battery life is usually an issue that arises due to certain settings such as Bluetooth, WiFi, or location being on when it’s not needed or high screen brightness. Typically phones will also start to lose battery life over time as well because people leave them plugged in longer than they need so they’re overcharged.

        Hello Jason,

        This was very informative seeing how did not personally know that running multiple apps can cause your mobile device to overheat. Nor did I know that phones can overheat from too much sun exposure. I did however notice that when running multiple apps on my phone that it kills the battery a lot faster but I didn’t know that blue-tooth connections can also drain batteries. I also was unaware that Overcharging a battery can effect your battery life

These basic forms of troubleshooting generally involve basic checks, soft and hard resets, diagnostic tools, and system updates.

      1. Basic Checks and Settings Adjustment

      The basic checks are one of the easiest kinds of troubleshooting. This involves simple things such as ensuring the device is charged, whether the Wi-Fi or cellular signal is strong, and that the setting of the device-such as Bluetooth and Airplane Mode, among others-is appropriate. Basic checks have always been the starting point of troubleshooting because they can quickly resolve common issues in connectivity and functionality.

      2. Soft and Hard Resets

      A mobile device reset may therefore work to clear temporary glitches in these devices. Sometimes, all it takes to fix minor software malfunctions is a simple restarting-a soft reset; sometimes, especially when such screens go unresponsive, they require hard resets, pressing particular buttons to make the device restart compulsorily. Users have to be very careful while carrying out a hard reset because more often than not, these resets lead to the loss of data.

      Troubleshooting devices can be anything from updating the devices to force stopping a app. I have had to force stop my app and turn on airplane mode for 30 secs, to a minute and clear the catch of the application and restart the mobile device. There are many different things we can do when troubleshooting a mobile device this is one that I am familiar with doing.
