MATTHEW 16 – WHO IS HE?

When Jesus came into the region of Caesarea Philippi, He asked his disciples, saying “Who do you say that I, the Son of Man, am?” Matthew 16:13

The question posed by the Lord Jesus to His disciples, may at first, appear to be trivial. But it’s not. It’s one of the most critical questions that they will have to address in their lives. Jesus asked, “Who do you say, the Son of man is?

After Jesus questions the disciples, they speedily begin to echo the circulating rumors, “Some say John the Baptist, some Elijah, and others Jeremiah or one of the prophets.”Jesus was already aware of what others were speculating concerning his person. But Jesus wasn’t interested in what others were saying; He was interested as to what His disciples believed. Jesus responded, “But who do YOU say that I am?”

The response to this question has eternal ramifications. It dictates whether you have peace or chaos, spiritual security or emotional instability, happiness or depression, eternal life or eternal death.

      CHALLENGE

Later in Matthew 16, Simon Peter responded wisely to Jesus’s question, “You are the Christ, the Son of the living God.” Although Simon Peter knew that Jesus was the Son of God, the real question was what was he going to do about it? Jesus asks, “who do YOU say that I am?”

My friend, who is Jesus to you? And what are you going to do about it? Will you make Him Lord? Will you like Peter, follow Him? Will you pray and study so that you may learn more about your creator, who loves you and has great interest in your person?

Jesus is waiting to hear from you; after all, He has been for a long time.

To me Jesus Christ is my Lord and Savior. He died for our sins, and He rose from the dead for our justification. We can only get to God through Him. I am going to believe what Jesus says. Trust Him and allow Him to change our hearts. Continually seek to discover more about Him through studying the Bible, talking to Him in prayer and connecting with other believers. I will make Jesus the Lord of my life because I only trust Jesus for my all life. Yes, I would follow like Peter wherever Jesus calls me to follow Him. Jesus is important to me because through His Atonement, teachings, hope, peace, and example, He helps me change my life, face my problems, and move forward with faith as we journey back to Him and His Father. Jesus knew that not all his prayers would be answered as expected. This is a difficult prayer lesson to learn, but the fact of the matter is that not all our prayers are answered in ways we expect.

Jesus is my savior as he did what was done for us. He took on that responsibility of dying for all of our sins. He is a constant thought throughout my days and I know his timing for me is planned for me, for his reasonings. I will continue to follow the path he has for me until I can no longer do so. I have made him a giant part in my life and it has greatly affected me, it showed me to be patient with his timing and to always believe in him. He has made this journey and path for me so I will respect him by following through with it and always believe that everything happens for a reason. I will continue to follow him along my lifetime for he is my reasoning.

Jesus Christ is Lord over all. There is no denying it and His name should be lifted above all others. I strive to a life fit for Him and I want to be a good and faithful servant to the only King worth following. However, this task is great and the trials are many. There is more I need to do and more I can do as a Christian. I want to live my life fully for Christ to experience the boundless nature of His love.

Jesus Christ is my savior who has forgiven me for my sins. I wish to further my understanding of the Bible and of Jesus’s teachings, so to have a stronger connection to my faith and to use my faith as a foundation for my life to base my morals and path through life.

Jesus is many things but mainly I would say that Jesus is my Lord and Savior who rose from the dead after talking my sins to the cross and that He is the son of the one and only God.
