I first acknowledged the Lord in my life eight years ago but for the first four years I would describe my faith as considering Jesus while my heart was far from Him it said in Matthew. But over the past four years, I’ve learned how to grow in my personal relationship with Him and I’ve stumbled multiple times as I’ve been learning but, I can confidently say that He has changed and cleaned my heart so much over these years and though I’m not perfect He has continued to work on my heart. Some of my teammates and I just had a devotional over Psalm 51 this week; verse ten was one of the verses that we discussed, and we should apply it to our lives and pray that God continues to help us daily.

There are seven main WiFi standards which are IEEE 802.11a, 802.11ac, 802.11b, 802.11g, 802.11n, 802.11be, and 802.11ac. The different types of encryption for these WiFi standards are WEP, WPA, WPA2, and WPA3. Most networks nowadays are using WPA2 or starting to integrate WPA3 because they are the newer standards for encryption and WEP has been around for a long time. WEP has been around since 1997 which at the time was very evolutionary but since it’s been around for so long people have also had more time to try and figure out how to decrypt WiFi’s using their standard. WPA2 on the other hand, is a newer version of WPA which has all the same features just upgraded and more modernized. I’ve also had more experience using this standard of WiFi encryption because it’s what my home WiFi uses.

    Hello Latoya,
After reading your discussion post, I thought you did a great job of walking through some different ways to troubleshoot a printer. I also agree that changing the paper in a printer is often overlooked because if not cautious someone can buy paper that either isn’t meant for that type of printer or the paper itself could be damaged.

When troubleshooting printers, the first thing you’ll need to check is the type of printer the user has. The type of printer matters because it has different parts that make it run properly. Inkjet printers use ink cartridges to print onto the paper and a stabilizer bar that holds the parts together. On the other hand, laser printers print using a combination of toner, lasers, and mirrors. If the printer is an inkjet, it can have clogged or misaligned inkjet print heads which can be fixed by using the printer’s software. There are also different types of paper for the different printers because the paper that’s used for inkjet might not be useable in a laser printer because of how the file or image is printed. Another common part that you should check if you are having problems with your printer is the rollers because they can accumulate dirt and debris over time and may need to be cleaned.

    Hello Latoya,
After reading your discussion post, I thought you did great explaining how to troubleshoot laptops and their similarities to PCs. I also liked how you walked through the troubleshooting steps for devices that are having trouble connecting to networks because some people misunderstand that they might not have their WiFi turned on or something and blame the computer or internet service provider instead.

There are many issues to troubleshoot on mobile devices including overheating, slow performance, and short battery life. Overheating can be caused by either too many applications opened or by using an application such as a game for a long time or improper ventilation such as leaving it in the sun during the summer. When a mobile device overheats it can shut down until cooled off because the system could be damaged further if you continue to use it. Slow performance can result from too many apps opening or running simultaneously, which can be solved by closing some of them or overheating can cause the device to slow. Short battery life is usually an issue that arises due to certain settings such as Bluetooth, WiFi, or location being on when it’s not needed or high screen brightness. Typically phones will also start to lose battery life over time as well because people leave them plugged in longer than they need so they’re overcharged.

I believe that I have answered the calling that Jesus gives in Luke 9:21 when He says, “And he said to all, ‘If anyone would come after me, let him deny himself and take up his cross daily and follow me.” My life has changed a lot because of this response. I’ve been growing in wisdom and faith while learning how to overcome trials in life with Jesus by my side. Honestly, I think this verse at times is looked at as simple but I’ve come to learn that it’s one of the most challenging decisions you’ll have to make over and over again throughout life and it’s not always easy to do. But through spending time with Jesus and surrounding myself with a great community of believers I’ve been able to continue to grow in these areas of denying myself, bearing my cross daily, and following Jesus’ lead or example.

    Hello Jessica,
After reading your discussion post, I thought you did a great job explaining what both the RJ45 connectors and the HDMI connectors do for the user. I’m currently using both of these types of connectors on my PC for my display and to have a more reliable connection to the internet for gaming.

The two different cable connectors that I chose to talk about are the RJ45 and RJ11 connectors. RJ45 connectors are also called ethernet cords or cables and they serve the purpose of directly connecting a device to the internet router. People use ethernet nowadays to ensure a more stable connection than WiFi and possibly to get faster internet speeds for gaming. RJ11 connectors though, are not as commonly used in newer devices but they are mainly used for connecting phones, modems, and fax machines to the wall jack or telephone line. Even though RJ11 connectors are being used mainly for older technology they’re still very effective and reliable in sending out and receiving signals from other devices and relaying the input and output to the user. RJ45 cables are also considered to be a twisted pair type of cable while RJ11 is a coaxial type of cable.

    Hello Braden,
After reading your discussion post, I thought you did a great job explaining the differences between input and output devices in this chapter. I also liked how you focused on the primary difference being that “input devices facilitate data entry into the computer, while output devices display or produce the results of the computer’s processes.”

    Hello Latoya,
After reading your discussion post, I thought you did a great job of breaking down how someone should troubleshoot a display device. I liked how you brought up the PCI slots and expansion cards because I don’t think I would have inspected that first but it’s an important part of troubleshooting this issue that could lead to the solution.

When troubleshooting display devices the first thing you should do is a visual inspection of the device and the cables connected to it for any damage or loose connections. The second step when troubleshooting is to check if the device is getting power by checking both if the device is plugged in and testing the cable by switching it out or using a multimeter tool. Another step that you should take is figuring out what type of display issue is occurring because many different types of issues include a burnt-in image on the screen, certain pixels dying, or the brightness being set wrong. If the issue is a burnt-in image you should inform the user to leave the screen turned off for a while because the image could’ve been on the screen for so long that the pixels start to stay there.

Input devices connect the user’s interactions with the software, while output devices allow the user to hear or see the result of their input. Common input devices that people are using nowadays include keyboards, mice, microphones, biometric devices, webcams, and NFC readers. These devices allow the user to send signals or data to the computer or device for different purposes including signing into a device, paying for a product, or gaming. On the other hand, some common output devices include speakers that output sounds, monitors that output a display, and printers that output files or documents. Some devices have both input and output signals such as touchscreens, smart TVs, and KVM switches. I’ve used both touchscreens and smart TVs recently in my daily life with my phone and TV which take in both what’s being pressed on the screen and produce displays based on the user’s input.

I’ve been convicted a lot this semester about how I’ve been spending my time throughout the day or week, but as a result, I’ve also been taking steps to spend more time with God in His word and in prayer. Some of my friends have challenged me to try fasting with them and having a quiet time in the morning to start my day meditating on His Word throughout the day.

    Hello Braden,
I liked how you were able to describe hard disk drives and explain why they’re used, but solid-state drives are also becoming more advanced to where they also have a large capacity. I also thought it was interesting how you described solid-state drives as flash memory because I haven’t heard of it in that way.
