Great Post Misty. Command lines are literally an entirely other interface and way to interact with the operating system of the computer. We are so accustom to GUI’s or graphic user interfaces now, it is hard to imagine just having command line interface on PC. Are there any command line interface games you enjoy? I can remember playing CYOA, or choose your own adventure games on PC when I was younger.

As with your other post this week, excellent work. I like the fact that you make the distinction marking which commands are for which operating system. Ipconfig versus ifconfig, etc. I am not sure that change directory, make directory, remove directory are the same in each operating system either, but would be great to investigate. I think knowing scripts is essential moving forward as an IT professional as well. The additional commands given as part of the presentation this week were superb, as there are literally hundreds and it does a great job at defining the use of each on and giving examples, so command [path]/[attrib] etc.,

    Thanks Teisha,

I was very glad to receive the link in the lesson this week with the additional ms-command prompts as well.

    Great post Carlos,

I wasn’t sure if operating applications were application built in to the OS itself, or any application that ran on the OS. Either way, great breakdown of File Explorer, Task Manager and Control Panel, which I do use practically on a daily basis. Just to add another the Services application allows you to control which programs are enabled or disabled at startup.

    Thanks Caleb,

Yes I have definitely heard of ProPresenter. I also like Proclaim by Logos, and Easy Worship as other presentation software’s. BitDefender is a good application, but I am sure there are many other cybersecurity programs that do just as good or better.

This is a very significant passage. First and foremost, forgiveness is key and a foundational to our faith. Jesus makes it plain if we are unable to forgive others, God is unable to forgive us. This reminds me of 1 Cor. 13:1, where Paul says we can speak in the tongues of men and angels, but if we don’t display love it is just noise. This shows how love and forgiveness are intertwined (James, 2019.)

When we don’t forgive, it ends up hurting us more than it does the person we are holding the grudge against. Many times you are carrying around hurt and pain & bitterness while the other person is walking around free as can be because they don’t even know that they offended you, or hurt you to that degree, or you never told them. The enemy will take advantage of this because the more you let it fester and brood within you, the more that molehill turns into a mountain in your life.

The unforgiving servant in Matt. 18:21-35 shows us what an unforgiving person receives from God(James, 2019.) So we have to learn to do what 1 Peter 5:7 says and “cast our cares upon him,” let it go and give that hurt completely over to God so we can be healed & continue to grow in grace (James, 2019.)

The command line is an interface that allows a user a way to communicate with the computer using special commands similar to code. These specific commands allow the user to execute outside of a GUI or graphic user interface. I only utilize a few commands on the regular. The ping command which you allows you to verify network connectivity to a specific IP address across a network host. By itslef it will ping the network 4 times an return a percentage based on the ping attempts passed or failed. Utilizing the -t allows you to perform a timed ping that will continue to ping the specific IP address until CTRL-C is used to stop it.

The next command used is the tracert command which allows you to see the route a packet takes across the IP network.
Next is the ipconfig command which allows you to see a computers network configuration settings such as the IP address of the computer, subnet mask, default gateway and DNS server settings. When ipconfig /all is used it will display every available network connector from the PC in detail.

Finally, the exit command allows you to exit command prompt. For bonus points the help commands gives you additional information on what commands can be used within the command prompt.

If we are in fact asking about 4 different applications on an operating system and what their purpose is, there are many applications to choose from. One application I use on the regular is Canva. The purpose of the application is a platform for graphic design ranging from postcards and logos, to full webpage design where user share free and paid graphics that allow you to customize the designs to your specifications. The designs can be as simple or complex as you can imagine.

Another type of application used is Open LP. The purpose of this application is an open source presentation software, similar to Powerpoint, but designed for worship services where users can display worship songs and lyrics, scriptures, multimedia presentations and alert notifications. This is a great resource for small churches because it is a free software.

The third type of software I would name is Intuit QuickBooks. QuickBooks purpose is an accounting software for businesses and companies to manage payroll and finances for organizations.

Finally, the last application is Bitdefender. Bitdefender is a cybersecurity antivirus software application whose purpose is to protect users form viruses and malware across multiple operating system environments such as Windows, MacOS, iOS, and Android.
