KeymasterMATTHEW 10 – GOT FEAR?
“And fear not them which kill the body, but are not able to kill the soul: but rather fear him which is able to destroy both soul and body in hell.” Matthew 10:28
There are many things in this world we should fear. A malicious intruder at your doorstep, wanting to hurt your loved ones. Or perhaps a violent tornado directed towards your home. Or, perhaps a war zone where the enemy has broken your defense and is in hot pursuit of your life.
It is a healthy thing to fear those things that could kill the body, but you should not compare them with what could destroy the soul. For such assaults against the body are temporary, while the assaults against the soul are eternal.
The fate of each person is certain. We will be born into this world, and by appointment, we will all depart. The enemy of our souls seeks to taint and destroy our bodies. But satan has no power over the soul. Such authority belongs to God and God alone.
CHALLENGE
My friend, it is wise to revere the Lord who has the keys to the afterlife. For the Lord Jesus has the power to judge righteously and condemn the soul to hell. Do you know Him? “Whoever has the Son has life; whoever does not have the Son of God does not have life.” (1 John 5:12)

ParticipantIt is very easy to fear death for anyone, including I. We tend to go on about our lives thinking that nothing will destroy our souls once we pass on through this life, but it’s easy for satan to distill fear into our lives from doing what we want to do. By trusting in Jesus through the Father with all our hearts and soul, we then find comfort knowing that everything will be ok. Reading the Bible daily also helps when it comes to nourishing our soul with His words of love and affirmation and can pursue us to live our lives free from fear of death but only as a reminder that we will still fear death, but it will not be the end, only to be reunited with our Father. At the end of the day, satan has no control over your lives as ling as you continue to seek Him daily, picking up the cross and trying to follow in His footsteps.

ParticipantI am so thankful to know the Son. Proverbs 9:10 says “The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom; and knowledge of the Holy One is understanding.” (James, 2019) I thank God for a healthy reverence or fear of Him. 1 John 5:12 helps us to further understand that same reverence and fear, should extend to the Lord Jesus Christ. More than that when we fear, or esteem the Lord in his proper respect, we realize we don’t have anything to fear from man at all. When we are reconciled to God through salvation in Jesus Christ, we have proper relationship with God, and as we build relationship with Him through prayer & reading of the word we are made more and more into the image of God. Christ has given us power over all the power of the enemy & if God is for us he is more than the entire world against us. So even in perilous times not only can we rely on the Father to take care of us, but he has given us power to overcome the enemy ourselves with the help of the Holy Spirit. Those are just a few scriptures that help me in times when the fears and doubts of life try to creep in.

ParticipantIt can be easy to focus on the list of scary things that as humans would be natural to fear, but this devotional calls us to remember how powerful God is. God operates on a much higher level than we can even understand. We should fear and respect Him more than any other thing. I think today there are many people who may have fear and anxiety in life, but they do not have fear and respect for God. Knowing that God is bigger, stronger, and greater than anything else is a great comfort and reduces some of the other fears. Having God’s love and presence in our lives helps us focus on Him. It is far better to focus on God than to focus on anything else. He promises to be with us, so spending time with Him and meditating on His Word brings us peace, love, and joy as He renews our minds.
